A breath alcohol test measures the concentration of alcohol in your breath, which corresponds to your blood alcohol concentration. A healthcare professional administers the test using calibrated equipment, records the result, and issues a certified PDF certificate for a negative result. A screening result below 0.020 is negative. A result of 0.020 or higher is confirmed with a second evidential breath test after a 15-minute observed wait; a confirmed result of 0.040 or higher is positive, and a confirmed result of 0.020 to 0.039 is reported for the employer to act on under its own policy.
